She is preceded in death by her much loved husband Dennis Doty, her mother Ida Belle Shelton, and her father William E.F. Inzer.
Connie is survived by her brother Bud Inzer, her daughter Nelle Martin, her sister-in-law Cathy Inzer and a devoted circle of friends including Dottie Semmens, Chris Creedon-Bowens and Sue Wichman.
Connie graduated from Palmer H.S. In 1963. After high school, she worked at a local bank while attending a banking school in Denver. After many years as a banker and a V.P., she became a travel agent working for a popular local agency then becoming an independent travel agent.
She had a real passion for travel, reading and Colorado Springs. She considered it her city! She loved Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs and promoting new venues opening in the city. She had a funny sense of humor and was always ready to have a good time!
Connie loved to ski, swim laps, hike with her buddies and visit Cripple Creek and Las Vegas to try her luck in the casinos. She was even known to have taken a nip or two!
After our mom became ill in her later years, Connie showed up day after day for many years even though she once told me, “I’m not the warm fuzzy type.” She was a truly loyal and loving daughter.
Connie’s love for daughter Nelle has always been front and center in her mind. She always loved Nelle’s wild and wonderful sense of humor and the many laughs they shared.
I remember one Christmas flying into the Springs during a blizzard. With the pilot flying only on instruments we finally landed, after several attempts. We were told that we were the only plane who made it in that day. After walking through an empty airport we looked out to see a lone Subaru and there sat Connie, who had been waiting over hour for us to land. She nonchalantly told us “I just brought a book and kept the heater on!" She was loyal that way.
Connie dearly loved her furry friends Tux and Mouse and spent many joyful years hanging with them. Friends are welcome to make donations to Happy Cats Haven www.happycatshaven.org in her name.
We hope all will take a moment to remember a special time you shared with Connie and say a quiet personal prayer.
No services are planned at this time. Connie’s ashes along with her mother’s will be spread at sea at Coronado CA, a place where they shared so many memories, and a few Del Coronado’s piña coladas.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Swan-Law.com for the Doty family.
