Constance Doris Mary Ann Elizabeth Allery (DuFresne), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother (affectionately called “Mims”) passed away on January 17, 2022 at the age of 94 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Ashfield, MA on July 26, 1927, the daughter of Hormidas and Lillian DuFresne. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Brigadier General Kenneth Edward Allery; son, Kenneth Scott Allery; grandson, Christopher Michael Pelletier; and brother, Ernest Harvey DuFresne.
Connie attended Rosary Grammar School, part of Holy Rosary Parish, and graduated from Holyoke High School, MA in 1945. She married Kenneth Edward Allery June 22, 1946, and they began their 33-year “Air Force” life together, where they were stationed all over the United States, including a 4-year tour in Germany. Their last assignment in 1971 brought them to Colorado Springs.
Connie was a homemaker and a talented and accomplished artist; one of her favorite past times was oil and watercolor painting. She also took up Norwegian Rosemaling, which is the decorative folk-art painting of Norway. She created many beautiful plates and trays in this style. She shared her enthusiasm for antiques and taught painting classes when she owned and operated The Gossip Bench. She also enjoyed bowling and traveling.
Connie was deserving of her symbolic name......Mims. Coming from a French-Canadian background, she became a “Meme” when the grandchildren arrived; however, her mother was called that, so she shortened it to Mims. She enjoyed planning and hosting any occasion that brought the family together for birthdays, holidays, weddings, or just a family picnic. She encouraged her grandchildren to explore their artistic side and held many painting sessions where they created their own greeting cards and artwork.
She is survived by her children Katherine (Rick) Pelletier, Bryan (Maryalyce) Allery, and David (Robin) Allery; grandchildren Eric (Tara) Mundt, Christina (Rashaud) Kraft, and Jacqueline (David) Wassing; great grandchildren Brianna (Cameron) Seifert, Christian and Hailee Mundt, Jessica Bluhm, Jaiden, Andre, and Claire Kraft, and Kyra Wassing; and great-great grandchildren Harley and Nova Seifert.
Connie leaves behind a legacy of love and family and will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Directors Cascade Chapel, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO on February 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
