

Connie Deane Moreland (née Carr),90, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Chicago, IL on July 3, 1931 and was the only child of Joseph and Helen Feldstein. She attended DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, Oh.
Connie was an accomplished photographer with her own business in Toledo for many years. She was a member of the Toledo Ski Club and a lifelong member of the Mothers of Twins Club. Her love of skiing drew her west to Colorado Springs where she has resided for the past 45 years. She then fell in love with hot air ballooning, owned her own balloon and was a member of the Balloon Society of Pikes Peak. She traveled to Albuquerque, NM for many years for the annual festival of balloons. She successfully achieved her Hot Air Balloon Pilot Certificate at the age of 67.
Connie married Albert I. Moreland on April 2, 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1973. She is survived by her children Patrick Jan (Lillian)Boyd of Swanton, Oh, Patricia Jane (Dale) Homer of Maumee, Oh, Tanya Lou (Jeffrey) Barker of Pittsburgh, PA and Debra Lee (Tom) Kwiatkowski of Toledo, Oh; grandchildren Thomas and Michael Boyd, Brian Homer and Tracy Klaft, Gene, David and Erin Keaton, Phillip Barker and Dawn Hack Lundun Barker, Joseph Kwiatkowski and Kristi Sommer; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren; several cousins and her longtime balloon buddy and friend Stephen Boucher.
Connie spent many of her later years searching for her birth parents and was successful, with the help of the Diocese of Chicago and the Genealogical Society, in locating her birth records. She was eventually able to travel to Florida to meet her cousin Pamela Rutkey and members of her extended family.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held at the Inn at Garden Plaza on Saturday October 2nd at 2:00pm for the residents of the Inn and immediate family. She will be interred at a graveside service only at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in Toledo, Oh, on Saturday 10/30/2021 at 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Inn at Garden Plaza, 2520 International Dr. Colorado Springs, Co 80910 to whom the family is thankful for the love and care shown to Connie by Christine Ferguson and the entire staff.
