Born to June and Wayne Hanlon on January 18, 1962, in Russell, Kansas, Curtis built a life defined by dedication, resilience, and quiet strength. Over the course of a remarkable 40-year career as a truck driver, Curtis navigated countless miles across the country- behind the wheel of everything from over-the-road rigs to concrete mixer trucks. His commitment to the profession was unwavering and reflected a deep sense of responsibility and pride in his work.
In addition to his domestic driving career, Curtis answered a higher call when he enlisted and spent two years serving in the U.S. Army reserves. Later on, Curtis also spent one year in the Middle-East during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Serving this time as a Civilian Contractor, he provided critical transportation support to U.S. troops- a testament to his bravery and steadfast character.
Curtis’s life was grounded in both purpose and passion. He found joy in simple pleasures: casting a line while fishing, working with his hands through home improvements and automotive work, savoring quiet moments over coffee, and relaxing at home with his cherished pets. These hobbies were not just pastimes but reflections of Curtis’s thoughtful nature and appreciation for life’s quieter rhythms.
Curtis is lovingly remembered by his wife, Catherine Hanlon; son, Joshua Hanlon; daughter, Grace Hanlon; sisters Rosalie Hinckley, Linda Hanlon, Teresa Holmes, and Lucinda Hanlon; brother John Hanlon; and half- siblings, William Richard, Vicky Hanlon, Ricky Hanlon (deceased), and Dennis Hanlon. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service honoring Curtis’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Memorial Gardens located at 3825 Airport Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
Strong-headed yet kind-hearted; caring yet courageous- Curtis Hanlon leaves behind a legacy of love and integrity. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
