Daniel Trent Foutch, beloved father, son, grandson, friend, and husband, passed away tragically on August 16th, 2013, in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, on December 10, 1984, to Deborah Anne Galaska. Daniel became the fourth child in a blended family of eight children, and was best friend to several of those children, naturally taking on the role of harmonizer. Daniel was the light of his mother’s eye – always energetic, always doing something, always involved, always bringing laughter to the room. When he was 18 months old, he was found in the kitchen doing dishes on a stepstool , saying “I do it myself mommy”. Daniel continued to want to do everything himself right up to his death.
Daniel spent his childhood in Mississippi, Guam, Maryland, Okinawa, Texas, and Colorado. He excelled in soccer and piano in Texas, and was incredibly excited to go to basketball camp with the Spurs. He graduated from St Marys High School in 2002, enjoying playing soccer there. His first job was as a lifeguard, and he loved teaching children to swim. After graduation he worked at Rizuto’s Ice Cream shop and attended Pikes Peak Community College. Daniel changed his major a few times at PPCC; he was interested in architecture, languages, and so many things he could not bring himself to pursue his bachelors, so he completed his Associates degree, then dedicated himself to fatherhood and being the best husband he could be. Daniel was the type of friend who would drop what he was doing to listen when you called; he had wisdom beyond his years. He once surprised his grandparents and godmother by driving across the country to visit them.
Daniel dreamed of paying off the home he bought for the wife he loved more than life itself. He trusted her with his life and put all his hope in her. Daniel wished to be the ideal husband, provider and father more than anything in the world, so after working for a few years in management positions at Loaf ‘n Jug shops, he trained to become an over the road truck driver. He was at the top of his class, and excelled for several months until he had an unfortunate accident. Daniel returned home and continued to push himself to provide all he could for the wife he loved so dearly, working two jobs, at Walmart and Home Depot, until his untimely death.
Daniel loved his beautiful daughter Annabelle with incredible tenderness and joy. He was playful, kind, and just enjoyed her beyond words. Daniel loved his bowling league, beaming with pride about his trip to Las Vegas when his team won the annual championship and enough money to pay for their vacation. Daniel enjoyed playing games and wrestling with his brothers, and teasing his sisters mercilessly. He gave the best hugs in the world and was a fabulous listener. Daniel was an avid 49ers fan, always wearing their jerseys. Daniel shaved his head bald on a bet his first semester of college, beginning a long series of wild hair styles.
