Dave was born on December 31, 1952 to Margaret June (Holst) Alley and Noah Paul Alley in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Dave graduated from Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, CO in 1970. Following a brief time in college and working various jobs, Dave began his career at U.S. Foods Service in 1980 as a truck driver, transitioning to a warehouse position in 2006. Dave had a tremendous work ethic, and remained employed there until his retirement in 2023, earning various awards for safety, professionalism, and leadership along the way.
Dave was a true Colorado outdoorsman, and particularly enjoyed mountain biking, hiking, camping and fishing. Many of his happiest memories are among the foothills he grew up in, rambling with his younger brothers in mountain sunshine, or exploring the same or new winding trails with his own children, teaching them to be curious, adventurous.
Dave was ceaselessly creative, and he found joy in producing beautiful pottery throughout his life. Many of his pieces tell intricate stories of his own creation or simply evidence his love of color and texture. Each vessel he made will hold his memory forever.
Dave loved music and film. He was moved by almost any type of music - from classical overtures to Spanish guitar or hard rock to folk, Dave cherished listening to music and watching him listen to it was a gift. Dave enjoyed contemporary and classic films alike, as he appreciated a good story with robust characters and dynamic plot devices.
Dave was known for his gregarious nature and his sense of humor. He made an impact on those around him, and almost always, could make you laugh. Dave will be remembered, also, for his ability to “fix” anything. In other words, it may work again, but it won’t work the same way it once did, or probably should.
Dave is survived by his wife, Alecia C. Errickson; children, David Wayne Errickson (Alley), Brita Manion Alley, Emily Morgan Alley, and Katherine Meghan Adkins; his brothers Steven Paul Alley (Joy Alley), Christopher Alley (Pamela Alley); Thomas Edward Alley (Cheryl Alley), and Curtis William Alley (Cindy); as well as his granddaughter. Gratefully, Dave now joins his little brother Joseph Wayne Alley, and his beloved parents, in heaven.
Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
Donations in Dave’s memory can be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. https://www.hsppr.org/donate/tribute-giving/
