David Merlin Carroll

David Merlin Carroll, age 76, an honorable and kind sports enthusiast departed this life surrounded by family on June 21st, 2026. Dave was born on March 23rd, 1950 in Saint Joseph, MO to Maxine and Lawerence Carroll. He graduated from Saint Francis Community High School in 1968 before attending Fort Hays State University.

While working as a Kansas State Highway Patrol Trooper, he met the love of his life, Candice Tipton. Dave and Candy married on February 22, 1975. They shared 42 years and a daughter, Ashley Carroll Bergland. After over 30 years in the car business Dave retired from Red Nolan Cadillac in Colorado Springs. Dave would share that his greatest pride and joy was being a grandfather.

Dave was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Carroll as well as his mother Maxine O'Leary and husband Henry, his brother Ron Daggett, sister Jackie Porter and his wife Candice Carroll.

He is survived by his brother Larry Carroll and wife Carol, brother-in-law Ron Porter, sister-in-law Anne Daggett, daughter Ashley and husband Matt Bergland, three grandchildren Mia, Niccole and Sean, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Status Code 4 Incorporated, a local non-profit providing mental health and well-being services for first responders and their families.
