David Mattson, the master timekeeper, joined the Maker of time on June 10, 2010. He joins family and friends in heavenly celebration in God’s presence. Waiting to join the celebration are: his wife of 58 years, Helen, sons, Steven (& Linda) of Divide, Carl (& Sharon) of Colorado Springs, Allan (& Radean) of Valencia, CA, Paul (& Brenda) of Kansas City, MO, and Jonathan (& Joanna) of Colorado Springs, and fourteen grandchildren! David was born October 8, 1929 in Petalox, Finland to Magnus and Annie Mattson. He helped run the family farm with Dorothy (deceased), Daniel, and Doris. At 17, David and the family moved from Finland to New York. He met Helen the summer of 1950 and they were married in 1952. David completed the Waltham School of Watchmaking, Waltham MA in 1950. He worked at Hamilton Watch Company until joining the Navy.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and in the US Air Force serving in Illinois, Bermuda and Colorado Springs until retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1973. From 1974 to 2010 he owned and operated the Tick Tock Shop,7 N Circle Dr., Colorado Springs. In 1975 he was granted the title of Certified Master Watchmaker by the American Watchmaker’s Institute.
He is remembered as a wise businessman, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a strong supporter of Christian mission and humanitarian efforts around the world. A viewing will be held Monday June 14, 2010 at Mesa Hills Bible Church and a memorial service at 1:00PM June 15, 2010 at the same location.
