

Dave was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 24, 1962, to Francis Lee McCarthy and Polly Louise (Jent) McCarthy. He had 6 brothers: Robert, Rick, Kevin, Allen, Joseph and Tim. He also had 3 sisters: Kathleen, Susan and Colleen.
During Junior High, Dave was chosen by his art teachers to do a highly coveted art apprenticeship at the Toledo Museum of Art. He loved it and was so creative.
He went to Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio, for his freshman year and played Ice Hockey. He also joined the Naturalist Scouts and engaged in many long-distance cycling adventures. He biked many miles from Toledo, Ohio to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In addition, he biked on a long journey to the Grand Tetons which then ignited a lifelong passion for the mountains. After Freshman year, he transferred to Angola High School in Angola, Indiana. After high school, he then ventured to California with his brother Allen and lived with his sister Susan for a while.
In the summer of 1983, he met the love of his life Lori Perigen at his Huntington Beach, CA apartment pool one night. They began dating and eventually married 6 years later. They then moved to Colorado, where he said he always wanted to live someday. Together, they went on to have many wonderful adventures together full of fun times and laughter. They were blessed with 3 sons: Justin Michael, Sean Dylan and Ryan Quinn. Dave always had a true passion for the outdoors. He loved going on camping, fishing, skiing, dirt-bike riding and 4 wheeling trips with his family. He was so talented and loved to paint oil paintings after his favorite painter, Bob Ross. Dave was an amazing cook. He could make the most delicious meals from almost nothing. Everybody loved his cooking. He was called "The Sauceman" by his family because he made the most wonderful sauces out of any ingredients. Time with his family was always the most important and precious to him.
Dave started as a Locksmith and worked as that for many years before he ventured into Electronic Access Systems technology. He loved his work and always strived to provide the best outcome for his clients. He was an extremely hard worker and always gave his everything to any project he worked on.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents; Francis McCarthy and Polly (Jent) McCarthy, as well as his brother Brian Joseph McCarthy.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Lori; his children, Justin, Sean and Ryan McCarthy; his siblings, Richard McCarthy + Elise, Robert McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, Kathleen (McCarthy) Curtis + Jonathan, Susan McCarthy, Allen (OOH BIG MAN) McCarthy + Denise, Colleen McCarthy + Mike, Timothy McCarthy + Peggy, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Dave will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit and wonderful sense of humor. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, sacrifice and wisdom. He was a devoted husband, loving father and a faithful child of God. He built a foundation for his children that he never had. The lives touched by his light and love are many. He will be remembered in the hearts of all those lucky enough to have known him by his jovial soul, childlike curiosity and indomitable spirit. Dave, (also known as Davey-Cakes) will be greatly missed and he has left a deep void in all our lives.
