Delores "Dee Dee" Jean Williams
June 7, 1944 – September 3, 2019
Delores Jean Williams (Dee Dee), 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 after her battle with Lymphoma. She leaves behind a family that surrounded her with love at the time of her passing; sons Brian (Kathy) and Lambert (Sarah) Hubel of Colorado Springs; daughter Dina (Claire Cunniffe) Mirabile of Long Island, NY; her beloved grandchildren Samuel, Matthew, and Emmaline Hubel, Oliver and Zoe Hubel, and Hannah, Eleanor, Lucie Cuniffe, and Charlise Williams. She also leaves behind her twin brother, Dale Hubel of Johnson Lake, NE her younger sister Janet Lundeen (Paul) of Montrose, CO; nieces Erin Halverson, Leslie Luke, and Nicole Upton; and her husband of 36 years, Eugene Williams. Her parents, Carl and Maryhelen Hubel precede her in death.
Dee Dee was born at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA to Carl and Maryhelen Hubel of Ewing, NE on June 7, 1944. Raised in Ewing, NE she was a 1962 graduate of Neligh High School. In 1964 she moved to Colorado where she spent her early adult years as a nanny in Denver and Colorado Springs before becoming a truck driver for UPS. After driving with UPS, she and Gene started Pride Trucking in 1982 where she drove cross country until retiring in 2016. When not on the road, Dee Dee loved working in her garden, cooking and baking. She most enjoyed being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. A highlight of her retirement years included raising chickens and sharing that joy with her beloved grandkids.
Dee Dee had an open door to her home and her heart. She was hardworking, independent, strong, and above all, she was caring. Growing up in rural Nebraska, she learned the values of hard work, family, and selflessness at an early age. Dee Dee spent many years on the road working for days at a time, yet she was a remarkable homemaker and mother, her home open to family and friends, and her kitchen always ready with a meal to be enjoyed. Her greatest strength is this legacy she leaves to her children and grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 14 at the Swan-Law Chapel, 501 N. Cascade, Colorado Springs with a reception to follow.

Dee Dee touched the world with passionate virtue, and lionhearted gentleness. She was heroic to her family, superhuman to her friends, and luminous in everything she was. Her impact is great, and I will carry her memory in my heart, not only with fondness and extraordinary respect, but with admiration of the audacity and vigor with which she confronted life.
Dee Dee leaves us with the indelible and very special gift of her memory in our hearts. I am thankful for her, and I miss her.

As a cousin of Dee Dee's I have fond memories of my visits to Nebraska to visit our grandmother and I especially enjoyed visiting my aunt's family and spending time with my cousins on their farm. Riding in Dee Dee's dad's plane, making crafts with her mom, watching my sister ride their horses, and swimming with all my siblings and cousin's in a local pond were all fun experiences for a girl from New York, that I will always treasure. My heart goes out to Dale, Janet and all of Dee Dee's immediate family.
