Dolores Jeanette Heath passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 12th, 2024, in Woodland Park, Colorado. Born on October 29th, 1938, in southern Colorado, she spent much of her adult life in Colorado Springs. She now joins her husband, Fred Lavoy Heath, in the eternities, traveling together in love as they always did in life. Side by side in life, they now rest side by side at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs.
Jeanette’s life was grounded in her deep Christian faith, which brought her immense joy and comfort. She loved music, especially hymns, and delighted in playing the piano to share this joy with her family and friends. Singing and listening to hymns were among her favorite ways to express her devotion.
Jeanette had a vibrant personality and a love for elegance. She enjoyed dressing up, adorning herself with jewelry, and curating her treasured collection of dolls and other keepsakes. Her appreciation for beauty also extended to the natural world, with a particular fondness for the Colorado mountains she called home, especially Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods.
She faced the challenges of life with remarkable strength and independence, setting an example of resilience and determination. Jeanette’s playful spirit shone in her love of dancing, storytelling, and laughter, making her a memorable presence to those around her. Her love for Australian Silky Terriers, which she bred and cared for with dedication, was an important part of her life for many years.
Jeanette is survived in death by her two sons, David Burns and Danny Burns. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Burns, who served in the U.S. military, as well as by her parents, Eldora Odneal and Doris Odneal. She now reunites with much of her family who have gone before her, surely celebrating a joyous family reunion filled with love and laughter.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs, where Jeanette will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Fred. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to an animal rescue organization in her honor, a tribute to her lifelong love for animals.
