I always knew him as uncle Nick. I never had a grandfather but as I grew up, he simply was. I never even realized until I was older that we weren't blood relations. We shared a birthday and I always felt a familial closeness to him. I didnt get to see him much in these last years but I mourn him like the grandfather I never had. I got to tell him at my wedding how much he always meant to me and I am glad we had that talk before he was taken from us. Without him and Monette, I would not be the person I am today. I will miss him and remember him fondly every birthday going forward.
