Donald P. McCarthy, Jr. (“Don”), ( October 27, 1962 - August 3rd, 2025) , 62, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma, fortified by the love of his wife , and by his five children, whom he considered his greatest legacy.
Born in Syracuse, NY, Don was known for his sharp intellect, quick wit, and steadfast devotion to those he loved. A devoted husband and proud father, he also shared an enduring bond with his five siblings—a tie of affection and loyalty that distance and time could never weaken.
Don built a distinguished career as a principal engineer in semiconductors, applying a brilliant mind and entrepreneurial spirit to work he loved. In his final years, Don faced illness with extraordinary courage and dignity. At his side, his wife Maureen offered steadfast care, advocacy, and devotion. Together they met the trials that test even the strongest bonds, yet theirs endured—refined by the journey, anchored in trust, loyalty, and love to his last breath.
He cherished hockey, fishing, and hiking. On occasion, a glass of Irish whiskey, shared with those he loved. Family vacations on Bald Head Island (NC) offered him rest, joy, and time for reflection among those dearest to him.
