

Donald Stuart Shaver was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 1, 2026. He was born on May 10, 1943, to Stuart and Mary Shaver at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1961. After graduation he toured Europe for three months with friends. Don started his career with Safeway Stores Inc. as a courtesy clerk in 1959. Don met his wife Diane in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the Safeway store where he was the Assistant Manager. They were married on September 4, 1966. He was promoted to Store Manager in 1970 in Aztec, NM and transferred to Craig, Colorado in 1972. He returned to Colorado Springs in 1975. Don managed several stores in Colorado Springs. Don was a member of the Safeway Employees Association, Downtown Lions Club, Knife and Fork Club, Winter Night Club and Promise Keepers. Don retired from Safeway in 1999. After his retirement, he and Diane moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where they enjoyed time with Diane’s parents and cared for them until they passed in 2017. During the time in Nebraska, Don enjoyed teaching state sponsored motorcycle safety classes at the Hastings College Campus in Hastings, Nebraska. He also worked for a time driving residents at Tiffany Square nursing home to their appointments. He brought joy to residents there and received a District Healthcare Award while there. Don and Diane moved back to their Happy Place, Colorado Springs in 2017, where all three children were living at the time. Don loved his family and his greatest joy was spending time with them.
Don is survived by his wife, Diane and children; A. Mark Shaver, D. Faith Ferl (Dennis J. Ferl), and L. Hope Mireles and 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jim Shaver and sister Linda Evans.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and sister, Mary Ann Lick. He was also preceded in death by his great granddaughter Emory Yael Seibt and his daughter in law, Debbie (Todd) Shaver.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, July 1st at 2pm at Woodmen Valley Chapel Heights Campus, 8292 Woodmen Valley View #5093, Colorado Springs, CO 80908
