Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 11, 2015. She was joined with open arms from her loving husband, Herbert Gwyn, who preceded her death 29 years ago.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Robert (Bob) Gwyn, daughter in –law Linda Gwyn, of California; Sharon Wells of California; and Geraldine (Geri) Anderson, (Chuck Anderson passed away earlier this year) of Arizona. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Tommy Wells, granddaughter in-law Tammi Wells, of Colorado Springs; Gary Wells, and granddaughter in-law, Nikki Wells, of Colorado Springs. She was blessed with 4 great-grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Tristan and Mystic.
Dorothy was born on April 15th, 1920 in Dover, Ohio, and spent her childhood in Canton, Ohio. Her family moved to Swink, Colorado in the late 1930’s. She graduated from Swink High School, and met the love of her life in La Junta, where they started a family. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1956 to raise their family. She lived in Colorado Springs for 53 years before moving to Tucson, Arizona to live with her daughter.
From an early age Dorothy was no stranger to work. In Swink she worked for a family as a full time house keeper, babysitter, clothes washer, and many other jobs. Once living in Colorado Springs, Dorothy worked at Fort Carson as a Budget Analyst with the Post Engineers at Fort Carson. She retired July 5th 1980, just over 30 years at her position. When she was not working she enjoyed watching TV, cross stitch, cooking, and most importantly being with her family. She was loved by all her family and friends. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Visitation Friday 10/23/15 at Swan-Law Funeral Directors
