

Dorothy E. Napier, age 102 a resident of Canon City since 2011, and formerly of Calhan, Colorado died on April 22, 2016. She was born March 3, 1914 to Alpha and Nellie (McCarty) Marchbanks in Altoona, Kansas. Moving to Colorado with her family as a young child, she grew up in the Yoder/Rush area on a farm. She married Otha Mitchell in 1929. Two sons were born to this union.
She married Frank Napier in 1937 and their children are Alvin (Mary) Mitchell of Walsenburg, Colorado, Ina (Charles) O’Dell of Columbia, Missouri, Pat Napier (special friend Virginia Teter) of Florence, Colorado and Lonnie (Barbara) Napier of Haslet, Texas. There are 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. One of her many joys was hosting family gatherings and sharing her delicious food and special pies. She loved to travel and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing trips. Her hobby was needlework, making quilts and beautiful embroidered and crocheted items.
Dorothy was preceded in death by two husbands, Otha Mitchell (1935) and Frank Napier (1998), a son, Leslie Lee Mitchell, her parents, a sister, Geneva Melbueu, 3 brothers, Doyle, James and Kenneth Marchbanks, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Ramah Cemetery, Ramah, Colorado.
