Born in Miami, Oklahoma, October 27, 1934, to Eddie and Ada Simpson, LeRoy was a dedicated coach and mentor to countless students during his career in higher education. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Marian, and one son Jeff; nephew Sam Mitchell; niece Natha Waldbaum, her husband John, and their three sons.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LeRoy’s name to Memorial Hospital Memorial Foundation – Oncology Unit , 1400 East Boulder Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80809.
