Earl Junior Blyeth

Earl was born in Searcy, White County, Arkansas, on September 22, 1929—just weeks before the stock market crash and the onset of the Great Depression. He was the youngest of three children born to Ernest and Bessie May Blyeth. When he was six years old, his family moved to Oklahoma, where living through the Dust Bowl of the 1930s inspired some of his most cherished childhood stories.

He graduated from Yale High School in 1948 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950, honorably serving a four-year tour. On June 13, 1954, Earl married Kathleen Riemath of Firesteel, South Dakota. They settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and welcomed their daughter, Berna Jean, whom they lovingly called “Jeannie.” In 1955, Earl joined the United States Postal Service, dedicating nearly 30 years to serving as a letter carrier before retiring in 1984.

Earl and Kathleen shared a wonderful life in Colorado Springs until her passing on March 30, 2005. Earl remained in Colorado Springs until April 2023, when he relocated to Virginia to be closer to his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie (Richard) Moore of Woodbridge, Virginia; four grandchildren: Christopher (Meghan) Moore of Woodbridge, Virginia; Aaron (Joe) Moore of Arlington, Virginia; Mish (engaged to Michael) Moore of Denver, Colorado; and Lelee (Nick) Ratajski of Gainesville, Virginia; and three cherished great-grandchildren: Campbell, Hudson, and Liberty Moore, whose company brought him great joy during his final years in Virginia.

A private interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 21, 2026, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Earl’s honor to First Evangelical Free Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
