It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edeltraud “Traudl” Hauser, nèe Stiller, a woman of boundless love, determination and a servant’s heart. Traudl passed peacefully entering the presence of the Lord on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Brookdale Trail Ridge Memory Care in Sun City West, AZ.
Traudi, or Trudy as known to many, was a devoted Mutter (mother), Mother-in-Law, Oma (grandmother) and Urgrossmutter (great-grandmother) who shaped the destiny of multiple generations with her strong values, work ethic and belief of eternal security in Christ.
Born on March 13, 1935, in Gottfriedinger-schwaige, Germany to Karl and Maria Stiller, she grew up on a farm in Lower Bavaria during World War II, coming of age in one of the most turbulent times in modern history. She conveyed stories from those years reflecting hardship, tenacity and hope sprinkled with humor. She inspired others by overcoming challenges with fortitude.
On February 14, 1956, she married Wilfried Hauser of Frankfurt, Germany and together they forged a new life and future in Colorado Springs, CO after immigrating in May 1960. She became a proud U.S. citizen on March 3, 1966.
Immediately upon arriving in the United States, Trudy began working as a maid at the Mayfair Hotel in Colorado Springs. Then she became one of the first employees with Hewlett-Packard-COS in 1963 starting as a line worker, advancing to line leader and retired as a supervisor on August 14, 1998. After retiring, she didn’t slow down. She continued working as an event usher at the World Arena, Pikes Peak Center and the Air Force Academy.
Trudy had a fervor for animals, rescuing many dogs and cats. She also found special joy in gardening. After her husband passed in 1976, she carried on with determination in everything she did. Trudy developed a lifetime passion for playing golf, volunteering at the International and Broadmoor LPGA and Senior PGA events. She will always be remembered for her unwavering support of her beloved Broncos, Avalanche and Rockies.
The heart of her home was compassion, wisdom and exceptional comfort with unwavering love for others. She frequently invited family and friends to enjoy her German cooking and baking was always leaving one wanting more.
Every joy and accomplishment was celebrated. Heartbreak in her family’s life found it’s way to her first with a comforting shoulder to lean upon. She was full of wisdom, the voice of reason, but when needed, exhibited a firm but loving hand on the situation. She dedicated
her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. While she left a void in our universe, we can only imagine the joy she is experiencing with her beloved Savior.
In addition to her parents, Edeltraud was preceded in death by her husband Wilfried, brother Karl, and sisters Maria and Johanna, one brother-in-law Alfred and one sister-in-law Annaliese.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hubert and Becky Hauser of Sun City West, AZ; granddaughters Alexandra of El Paso, Texas and Hailey of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great-grandchildren Malia, Hunter and Finley; stepchildren and their families; and a brother and his wife, Hubert and Liesl Stiller, brother-in-law Josef as well as many nieces and nephews and their families in Germany. Along with many special friends she made over the years.
Edeltraud leaves a legacy that outlives a lifetime defined by an indomitable spirit, resiliency, perseverance, cheerfulness and strength. She always esteemed others as greater than herself. In her latter days, everyone was simply called “Schatzi” or “dear one, treasure”. But in truth, she was our treasure.
A graveside service honoring and celebrating Edeltraud’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10am at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
