Edgar Lee Martin

Edgar Lee Martin, 84, retired U.S. Army, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014. He was born on October 20, 1930 in Overbrook, KS, to Wilson Marion Martin and Christiana (Brubaker) Martin, the 5th of 12 children. Ed married Evelyn Forster on October 28, 1951 and they were married for 61 years. Evelyn preceded him death in 2013.

Ed was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam and after retiring from the Army, worked for Civil Service at Fort Carson for another 27 years.

He is survived by his children, Linda Moore (Mike) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Robert Martin of Colorado Springs, CO; Julie Martin (Andy) of St. Paul, MN; and grandsons, Josh Moore, Wil Klein, Elijah Fein, and Isaac Fein. Brothers, Frank (Betty) Martin of Texas; George (Sadie) Martin of Park City, KS; and Kenneth (Frieda) Martin of Baldwin, KS; sisters, Lola Amend of Lyons, KS; Velma Pretzer of Garnett, KS; Elsie Menefee of Lyons, KS; Ella (Richard) Thacker of Lecompton, KS; Marietta Martin of Wichita, KS; and Sarah Hartpence of Texas.

Ed was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold Martin, sister Edna Martin, and son Steven Martin.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 1:00, Swan-Law Funeral Director’s Cascade Chapel, with a visitation an hour prior.
