Edith Rose Demio

She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on December 14, 1934, to Matthew C. Russell and Edith R. Robertson. She graduated from Hazelhurst high school and received a bachelors in business from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Edith married Dante C. DeMio on August 28, 1969.

Edith had a career in the insurance industry, and worked for Insurance Companies of America and retired from Farmers Insurance. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Bear Creek Garden Association and the Vocal Fusion Music Group. Edith had a passion for the Lord Jesus, her family, her dogs, gardening, sewing, painting, singing and dancing.

Edith is survived by her sons, Brooks A. (Robin) DeMio, Brian D. (Alison) DeMio and Andrew DeMio; grandchildren, Shawn (Karisa) Shaffer, Daniel (Nicole) Shaffer, Carissa Shaffer, Michael DeMio, Kymberlie DeMio, Dustin DeMio, and Brandon DeMio; great-grandchildren, Brooklen Shaffer, and Cheyenne Shaffer; brother, Ira (Diane) Russell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded by her parents, Matthew C. and Edith R. Russell; and brother, Matthew Russell.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2111 Carlton Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
