After our children were older, we three sisters, myself, Edna and Rene managed a few weekend get togethers. One time in Denver, CO we had a suite of rooms, thanks to Rene getting us an upgrade. We really indulged ourselves. We enjoyed an old fashioned Victorian tea party in the hotel's lobby.  
Edna struggled with a lot of health issues during her life but when she could no longer live without a lot of daily help, Quentin and Ginger were able to move her into the Mount St. Frances Nursing Center in Colorado Springs. I knew she would be loved and cared for by the Sisters and staff there.
Some of Edna's favorite words from the Bible were in the 23rd Psalm. Though we grieve her loss today, I know Edna believed in the eternal life and she now “dwells in the house of the LORD for ever.”

Remembering my sister Edna
	
 It’s hard for me to imagine this world without Edna. But I'm reassured by my faith that I will see her again in our eternal life in Heaven.
Edna was not just my sister. She was my constant companion and closest friend throughout all my childhood years. From the time we were little, we shared not only a bedroom but for many years a big double bed together to sleep in. One of my favorite memories of those times are the two of us playing in that big bed after we were supposed to be asleep at night.  We had a flash light and we would shape tissue paper dolls and play with them under the covers.
As teenagers we grew apart for awhile but as young married girls we reconnected while raising our firstborn children. Both of us living in the same small town, Stoneham, MA meant I would drive or walk over to visit Edna with my son, Brian, and she would have her daughter, Ginger by her side. We shared a lot of thoughts about raising children and she  showed me a calmness and patience with our children that helped me so much.
My sister Edna's love for animals was all encompassing. In heaven now I imagine her surrounded by all the pets she ever had and more.  From the care and loving she gave our first dog “Cindy” and our family cat “Midnight” as  children, I remember her giving them nicknames and holding them close. That love she shared for all the pets she ever had in her life was a great comfort to her.  
She made this world a better place for everyone lucky enough to get to know her well. As an adult I found Edna's advice comforting, reassuring and knowledgeable in so many of my life's struggles. Whether she was close by or far away. Out west in Colorado, Edna would often give me helpful ways to deal with my life's difficult issues. I found real comfort in sharing things with her.

My sister Edna was a kind and gentle soul.  She loved animals, dogs, cats, and especially birds.  Although all of God’s creatures were her delight. She loved the nature of the garden – butterflies, flowers, dragonflies; and she loved to study them.  
I can picture the look on her face, shy, and laughing at some joke.  Shy and quiet was her way.  She loved little babies, infants, and you could feel her warmth and kindness. She had a sweet tooth, like me, too.  
Ten years apart in age and a long distance living away from each other meant that we didn’t get nearly enough time with each other.
I miss her, but I know memories will keep coming back.  You are on your way to heaven and the loving arms of Jesus, our Lord.  I love you, Edna, say hi to Mom and Dad.
