

Edward Wallace Guymon, was born July 9, 1924 in Pocatello, Idaho. Eventually the family moved to a ranch outside Ely, Nevada. Upon his graduation from White Pine County High School he married his high school sweetheart and joined the Army Air Corp. He became the ball turret gunner on a B-17 flying out of Britain. After the war ended, he returned to Ely, Nevada and joined the Nevada Air National Guard as a second lieutenant. He was recalled to active duty for the war in Korea. Assignments to California, Alaska, Texas, Florida, Bermuda, and the Air Force Academy followed. He won the award as the Air Force Supply Officer of Year for four years running. Following his assignment at the Academy, he was stationed in Viet Nam as the Chief of Supply for all of Seventh Air Force. Next he was stationed in Altus, Oklahoma and Rhein Main, Germany. He retired to Colorado Springs in 1977 after 34 years of active duty. He started a second career as an Assistant Professor of Humanities at Colorado Technical College where he taught for 15 years.
He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Mary LaVerne. He is survived by three children, eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 25, at 2 PM, at the Lexington Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be at the Fort Logan Cemetery.
