Elah Marie Still

Born October 25th, 1933 to Grady and Willie Lee Oaks, she lived her early years in Belmont, Mississippi with her mother and 5 brothers-Milton, Harold Dean, Floyd, Billy Joe, and Millard. At the age of 12, Marie moved with her family to Colorado Springs. They lived on Willamette St. and she attended North Junior High School and Colorado Springs High School, graduating in 1952. Her family attended the Church of God on Espanola Street and it was there that she met Donald Eugene Still. They were married on April 10th 1955.

Marie worked at the Exchange National Bank for the first several years of their marriage before the birth of their first son, Lynn Eugene in 1960. He was followed by the birth of their son Dean Alan in 1965 and daughter Lisa Marie in 1973.

Don and Marie loved to travel, and they visited all 50 states as well as England, Canada, Mexico, and Panama. They loved to spend time traveling in their RV and would often spend winters in Yuma, AZ and Truth or Consequences, NM with friends and family.

Marie was deeply committed in her faith in Jesus Christ. She enjoyed attending and serving at church and over the years she and Don hosted bible studies and oversaw the activities of the youth group. She was also responsible for making the weekly church deposit for many years.

Marie was devoted to family. She enjoyed taking care of her children and subsequent grandchildren and was always ready to hold and love on new babies. She loved being with each of her 11 grandchildren and really enjoyed meeting her great-grandchild, Liam.

She was fond of doing Sudoku and crossword puzzles and beating her grandkids at “100 Pin Bowling “ on the Wi and Rummikub. She would watch untold hours of tennis and sometimes would fall asleep in her recliner but often would wake up to see who had won the match.

Marie was proceeded in death by her husband Don, her parents Grady and Willie Lee Oaks, her bothers Milton (Pearl), Harold Dean, Floyd (Inez), Billie Jo and Millard. She is survived by sisters-in-law Allene Oaks (Harold Dean) and Lois Oaks (Billie Joe), son Lynn Still and his wife Shelly, son Dean Still and his wife Kerri, daughter Lisa and her husband Travis Miller, and grandchildren Andy and Olivia Still, Nathan Still, Amy and Jake Sonnenfeld, Laura Still, Kaleb Still, Ethan Still, Ben Miller, Levi Miller, Tarra Miller, Emma Miller, Lucas Miller and her great grandson, Liam Sonnenfeld.
