

Elinor’s life was filled with music. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Ohio Wesleyan University, and a Master of Arts degree in music performance and composition from Tufts University in Boston. She was a music director and conductor, and sang with the Boston Lyric Opera, the American Light Opera, and the Colorado Springs Opera, as well as the Colorado Springs Music Theater. Elinor was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
She is survived by son Brian Schaible, daughter Susan Austin, son Thomas Schaible, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Elinor was preceded in death by her first husband Capt. Theodore Schaible, USN and second husband George Garriques.
Elinor’s memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23 at Grace & St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 601 North Tejon St., Colorado Springs. A reception will be held in the church’s Great Hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace & St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
