Elva passed from this life at the age of 101. Elva was born in Harrisburg, Illinois the daughter of William and Daisy Pinkstaff. Elva was preceded in death by her 5 sisters (Estelle, Lottie, Ruth, Lillian, Wilma) and brother (Harley); she was the last of the Pinkstaff family generation. Also preceding her death were her husband James Joyce, her son Richard Joyce, and son-in-law William Nagata.
She was married in 1942 to James S. Joyce who was stationed in Everett, Washington. She was a wife and homemaker to Jim for over 50 years. They lived in Riverside, California; Harrisburg, Illinois; Hammond, Indiana; Jackson, Mississippi and Monument, Colorado.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Joyce, Barbara's husband Richard, her two grandchildren Shelley Nagata and Nikki Nagata-Weishel, and Nikki's husband Blake.
It was always a delight to be around Elva. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved preparing meals for the family, decorating for the holidays, and planning parties. She had an adventurous spirit and lived life on her terms. She most recently enjoyed monthly travels to Moab, Utah where she enjoyed the sun and jeep rides through the national parks. She was a loyal friend to everyone and was supported by a loving church community.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 19th at 11:00 am at Tri Lakes United Methodist Church, 20256 Hunting Downs Way, Monument.
