Emilene Ethel Henson

Emilene (Fuller) Henson was born December 5, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas to Dennis and Ellen Fuller. One interesting fact is that her great grandfather, John H. Fuller, was the attending doctor for her birth at home. He was one of the first medical doctors in Wichita. She spent the first 29 years of her life in Wichita and surrounding small towns but in 1965 she was transferred on her job to Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1970 she married Carl Henson.

Her childhood years were spent in many places, Wichita, Hutchinson, Mt. Hope and Maize, Kansas. During here elementary years she attended five different schools. In 1950 she graduated from Wichita High School North. In 1970 she received a BS Degree in Accounting from Bethany Nazarene College in Oklahoma and also was certified to teach secondary business courses. In 1987 she received a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Regis College in Colorado Springs. In 1976 she received her Certified Public Accountant certification and was certified in three states: Colorado, Nebraska and Texas.

When she was 17.years old and had graduated from high school she began her working career as an accounts receivable clerk at Southwest Cracker Co in Wichita. In Wichita she worked for Oklahoma Tire & Supply. Next she began working for Friman-Gentry Mortgage Company in Wichita and then when the name was changed to Friman Mortgage Company she was transferred to Tulsa Oklahoma in 1965. Her greatest desire was to obtain a college education and in 1965 she took night courses at Tulsa University and then transferred to Bethany Nazarene College where she obtained her BS Degree in Accounting in 1970.

While in College she was employed in a doctor’s clinic and worked full time. This made for a busy life as she was also in school full time. After graduation she was hired as a cost accountant for the Williams Companies in Tulsa. When she and Carl moved to Colorado Springs in 1971 she taught business courses at several colleges and also taught piano at Nazarene Bible College. She moved to California in 1974 and worked at a CPA firm. Then after moving to Woodland Park Colorado and began her own tax return business and did financial audits of governmental entities.

Here greatest love was teaching and she taught Sunday school since she was 13 yrs old. When the move to Chadron, Nebraska took place in 1989 she was hired as a professor at Chadron State College and she taught upper-division accounting classes for 6 years. The next move was to Amarillo, Texas and she continued her accounting practice. In 1997 she moved back to Colorado with her husband and was hired at a CPA firm to do corporate and partnership taxes and also continued her own private CPA practice.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents, her sister Patsy and her brother Dennis.

She dedicated her life to God when she was twelve at a Revival in Grace Church of the Nazarene in Wichita. Through the years she spent much time in serving in many capacities in the Church of the Nazarene: teacher, secretary, bookkeeper, district advisory board member, pianist and organist, singing in the choir and even helped in physical buildings of several churches.

She had many hobbies and was always busy doing something. Crocheting, embroidery, counted cross stitch, cooking, doing yard work and anything else she could find to do. With her husband, Carl, for the rest of her life she went hunting for deer, antelope and elk. They both loved to travel and took many trips in a camper and cruises on the water.

After a pastor urged everyone to read your Bible daily she began a lifetime of BIBLE READING. Her emphasis in all of her teaching and living was to “READ YOUR BIBLE”
