He was born in Laramie, WY on May 25th, 1947. He was married to Cindy Vialpando on September 29th, 1977. Ernie worked for Safeway Corporation and retired after 33 years. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Holy Trinity Knights of Columbus. He grew up in the San Luis Valley along side his 12 siblings.
After retirement Ernie enjoyed working on his hobbies in his shop at home. He had a great passion for helping humanity by dedicating his time volunteering. He dedicated many hours of his time to the Colorado Springs Marion House. His love and devotion to his faith was unconditional. He genuinely loved supporting his grandchildren in sports, 4H, dance, gymnastics, karate and gymkhana’s. Ernie also enjoyed working with his hands doing landscaping, wood working, and building. He belonged to the Golden Agers of Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Ernie was known for his kind heart and LEGENDARY HUGS!!!! He would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Cindy; Children: Tammy (Chris)Weakley, JimmyJay (Jennifer)Vialpando, Jody (John) Fouts and Staycie (Chris) Skinner. Grandchildren: Salina, Christina, Dominic, Damian, Damani, Emma, Kalea, Dayton and Chris Jr. Siblings: Mable Cordova, Judy Diaz and Steve Sanchez, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his father Albert Vialpando and mother Priscilina Vialpando, and 9 of his siblings.
Funeral arrangements as follows. Viewing at Chapel of Memories 829 S. Hancock, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, February 1st from 5-8pm. Rosary and Mass at Holy Apostles Catholic Church 4925 N Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs CO 80917, February 2nd. Rosary at 10:30am and Mass at 11:00am.
