

Colonel Ervin Wursten, 94, Colorado Springs, died Feb 20, 2013. He was born July 5, 1918 in Logan, Utah to John Wursten and Rosina von Niederhausern. The youngest son of seven children, Ervin was preceded in death by Jack, Arn, Ed, Karine Hill and Evelyn Huppi. His sister, Rae Winslow resides in Logan.
In 1941, he married his childhood sweetheart, Gloria Dopp. When Gloria died on Feb 28, 2012, they had enjoyed 71 wonderful years together. Erv and Gloria have three children: Nancy (Jim) Cunningham, from St. George Utah, Douglas (Sandra) Wursten from Colorado Springs and Dana Distelhorst from O’Fallon, Illinois. Erv has 15 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way.
Erv was in the United States Air Force for thirty years. He began his career flying 69 European combat missions in WWII in the Martin B-26 bomber, including 3 missions on D- Day. He served in Strategic Air Command as a Squadron, Group, Base, Wing and Air Division Commander. He was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses, ten Air Medals, the Legion of Merit and two Bronze Stars.
Following his Air Force career, he was the assistant airport manager in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Erv had great faith in Jesus Christ and served faithfully in many responsibilities
