I met Gina in 2016. I had the privilege of accompanying her to doctor’s appointments and learning from her wisdom. Each day we’d eat lunch by the window. She always prayed before she ate. I could tell she was friends with God by the way she talked with Him. Although she faced the many challenges of aging, gratitude radiated from her soul.

She taught me to be tough and strong, as well as soft and humble. I loved her stories and admired her loyalty to the things that mattered most. She was thrifty and loved to find a good deal at the grocery store. She loved potato soup from King Sooper’s. In an effort to gain some weight her doctor told her to buy whatever she wanted to eat. She loved to buy little boxes of donut holes and said she was doing it in the name of health :) she taught me to make deviled eggs and pie and all kinds of things.

We attended her bible study together. Once one of the ladies there complimented her outfit saying “Gina you look like a movie star!” She responded confidently saying, “I know!” 

We met just a couple of months before my wedding and she gave me all kinds of marriage advice. She taught me to see my fiancé’s perspective and to see the best in him. I got a call that my wedding dress was ready for pick up while I was at her house. When I hung up the phone she said, “well what are we waiting for??” So we hopped in the car like two school girls to go pick it up. She was so excited.

A year later, I had since moved from Colorado to Texas where my husband was training to become an Air Force pilot. Gina’s granddaughter was going to be married in Texas. I was able to meet Gina there and accompany her that weekend. I had just found out I was pregnant with my first child and Gina was delighted. A year after that I was able to to to Colorado and visit Gina along with my daughter. That was a special memory I will always cherish. 

Gina walked with God figuratively in this life and now she walks with Him literally. I will love her forever.

What beautiful pictures of Gina!  I can never remember her without her smile and wonderfully gracious spirit.  God lived in and through her throughout all the years I knew her, and many of us were blessed by her as a result.

My sweet mother has gone to be with her Lord and savior!  She lived a wonderful life for the Lord.  I am proud to have been her daughter. 

I will miss my Mormor so much. She was the best grandma anyone could ask for. Also the best great grandmother to my daughter Emma. They spent almost 13 years seeing each other every  month. I will remember Mor Mor’s Jell-O salad, her reading the bear book to myself and Emma, sitting in her kitchen and talking over the years. I remember so many Christmas days at her house, and her little mini tree. She made me laugh, and she was the head of a very strong family of women. She will always be in my heart.

Mor Mor,
You were such a pillar of faith and strength for me through my life. I will forever be grateful for your prayers for me and my family. You always had an open door and something sweet for anyone and everyone. Thank you for modeling hospitality the way you did. I miss you but I’m so glad you’re rejoicing in Heaven!

My dear Gina...What an inspiration and impact you have made on my life.  You were a dear friend and role model for me.  You enriched my life in so many ways.  You were an excellent Bible teacher and I was blessed to have the book of Revelation opened to me in such a way that I gained new understanding that I had not grasped before.  
   We had so many fun times together sharing, laughing and praising God.  I often said that when I grow up I want to be like Gina.  You and Herk were an inspiration to both Bob and me and we are thankful to God to be a part of your lives and role models for us.
    Can any of us that were privileged to share in our Women Ministry group the fun of fellowship, fashion shows--who can ever forget Gina modeling and wearing her famous spike heels of flashing lights.  We miss you dear friend.  Peace to your memory.

To all those who loved my mom, who visited her, who shared a meal, who sent a card, who made her smile, I send my heartfelt thanks.
When you loved my mom you loved me.  I am grateful.

Gina Carlson..........A life complete and well-lived.  How fortunate you her family were to be molded and nurtured by her uniqueness and gifts of the Spirit.   Her legacy of wisdom, strength and faith will continue to emerge in you, informing and guiding generations.  I believe her Heavenly Father has said, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

I only knew this sweet lady as Mor Mor.
She was definitely a one of a kind!
She attended Thanksgiving at my home in 2011.  At 90 years old this beautiful soul baked all of our pies!
What a blessing it was to have her as family!
She will truly be missed!
