

Esther Hernandez Valencia, age 89, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away peacefully in her home of 54 years on February 8th, 2023, surrounded by those that love her. Esther was born March 10th, 1933, in Maxwell New Mexico to Elena Marquez Hernandez and Julian Hernandez. She was the 12th of 14 children. Living most of her life in Colorado, she loved sitting on her porch drinking her coffee, enjoying a beautiful view of Pikes Peak.
Esther attended school through the tenth grade until 1949 in Pueblo, CO. In her 20’s she went to live in Roswell, NM. During this time, she met Raul (Rolley) Octavio Valencia. The two got married on February 14th, 1959. In 1965, they would move to Colorado. Together they welcomed three sons and a daughter. She retired from Current after 13 years as a material handler. She loved living in Colorado and enjoyed planting in her Garden, cooking wonderful meals for her family, singing, and of course, dominating in scrabble. She attended church at the Rose of Sharon faithfully and loved serving the Lord and sharing the love of Jesus with many. She absolutely loved family gatherings. Family and friends were always abundantly important to her.
Esther leaves behind her loving children; Raul Ernest (Ernie), Robert Lee (Bobby), Jeanette, and Tino Valencia; precious grandchildren; Connie Tafoya (Carlos), Jason Valencia, Vanessa Cherek (David), and Desiree Grimaldo (Michael). As well as her growing family of great grandchildren, Xyus, Malachi, Matthew, Josiah, Theodore, and Mia who all reside in Colorado Springs, CO. Siblings; Petrita (Petra) Hernandez Hancock Concord, CA and Margie Osborn (Ron) Pueblo CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Services will be scheduled for February 24th, 2023 starting at 10am at The Rose of Sharon Temple, 229 E Cucharras St, Colorado Springs CO, 80903 starting with a viewing, to follow a Celebration of Life. Esther will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Memorial Gardens Funeral 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Friends and family are welcome to join; this will take place immediately after the Celebration of Life. Reception at Memorial Gardens to follow the burial.
