

Evelyn Louise Stark, 86, passed away on Monday, September 7 at Memorial Hospital with family members at her bedside. Evelyn was born in Colorado Springs on December 2, 1928 to Arthur and Louise Van Lopik. She took pride in being a third-generation native of her home town.
Evelyn attended Colorado Springs High School, Colorado College, and Pomona College in California. After graduation, she worked in Houston, Texas and in Chicago before returning to Colorado for the remainder of her life. In 1957 she married D.W. (Bill) Stark with whom she had two children - - Lance Arthur Stark and Gail Louise Brewster. She is survived by both children and their spouses and by her treasured grandchildren Rachael, Luke, and Julia Stark.
Evie participated fully in the social and cultural life of Colorado Springs. She made life-long friends through her affiliation with the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma, volunteer work for the Colorado Springs Symphony Guild, Junior League, the Pioneers’ Museum, and her neighborhood association. She enjoyed entertaining and excelled at it, particularly at holiday seasons.
Memorial Services for Evelyn Stark will be held at 10:00 AM on September 15, 2015 at Shove Chapel on the Colorado College Campus. A private internment will take place at a three-generation family plot at Evergreen Cemetery later in the afternoon.
Donations may be made to Colorado Christian Home Tennyson Center for Children and Family, Pioneers Museum, or the Salvation Army.
