

Forest was born on June 23, 1929, in Haddam, Kansas to Forest and Kitty Paulena (Hoffman). He cherished his older brother Denzel and younger sister, Arlene. He graduated from high school and went on to study milling at Kansas State University where he played football and graduated in 1951. That same year Forest was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army, married Mildred Colleen Cole from Smith Center Kansas, and began a 28- year distinguished military career. His assignments included various stateside posts as well serving as Commander, 7/11 Field Artillery in Viet Nam. His education included the Artillery Basic Course, Artillery Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, Naval War College, and the Armed Forces Staff College. In 1975, Forest retired from the U.S. Army and enrolled in Denver Seminary, Littleton, Colorado graduating with a degree in Theology. He later established and pastored a church in Woodmoor, Colorado.
Forest was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 68 years, Mildred Colleen; his brother, Denzel, and his beloved son, Kerry, COL (ret) U.S. Army.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Lita (Denzel), of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arlene King (Frank) of Hiawatha, Kansas; son, Ricklin, Kansas District Court Judge, retired, of Fort Davis, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Teresa (Kerry) and grandchildren, Forest J. Pierce, Major, U.S. Army, of Stuttgart, Germany and Erin Pierce of Pace, Florida.
Forest loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart and shared that love with everyone he met. His will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank B. T. and the special caregivers from Amada Home Care as well as the entire staff at Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care at Penrose Hospital for their dedication and care.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, March 15th, at Mackenzie Place, Colorado Springs, Colorado with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
