Frank Richard Alstrin

Frank Richard Alstrin, 84, passed away on September 17, 2026. Born on March 12, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa, he was raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and later lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Frank will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection—as a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; as a faithful man who lived with steady care for others; and as someone whose honesty and generosity were evident in both quiet moments and everyday choices.

In his early years, Frank graduated and went on to the University of Missouri to study Journalism, though he also discovered that campus life held its own appeal. Before long, he chose a different path—joining the Coast Guard to see the world. Stationed in San Francisco and Hawaii, he especially enjoyed his time at sea, where he saw many Pacific islands and took pride in his service. During those years he lost part of a finger while bringing up an anchor, and—true to his teasing spirit—he never tired of telling the kids he had “4 1/2 fingers.”

Frank later earned his Chriopractic degree at Palmer University and dedicated himself to caring for others through his work. He served as a Chriopractic Missionary for the Christian Chriopractic Association in Gallup, New Mexico, and practiced as a Chriopractor in San Francisco, CA; Pacifica, CA; Fountain, CO; and Aurora, CO. He was a Chrioprator for 25 years. Beyond his clinical work, he also owned a furniture stripping company in Colorado Springs, CO, and later worked for a company called Cynthes in Monument, CO. He retired approximately 10 years ago, closing a long chapter of steady work marked by service, diligence, and a sincere desire to help.

On February 26, 1972, Frank married Suzann (Scott) Alstrin. Together they built a family that remained at the center of his life and priorities. Their son Kurt was born December 27, 1972; he married Sandy on July 4, 1997, and they have two sons, Michael and Cameron. Their son Grant was born June 11, 1975; he married Jennifer Gaillory, and they have a son, Kyle. Their son Christopher was born December 25, 1976; he married Laura. Their daughter Johanna was born October 28, 1978; she married Brennan Patten, and they have two daughters, Cosette and Nadine. Frank’s love for his family was constant—expressed through devotion, practical care, and the kind of presence that made others feel supported and safe.

Frank’s interests reflected an active and capable spirit. He enjoyed tennis, biking, camping, sailboats, guns, archery, woodworking, and sking. He was also a fan of jazz music and Frank Sinatra—music that suited his steady nature and the quiet confidence with which he moved through life.

A member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frank’s faith was central to him. He loved the lord Jesus, and his life reflected that faith through kindness, generosity, and a caring heart. He was also patriotic, grateful for the country he served, and proud of the life he built.
