Garth was born June 3, 1936 in Carrizozo, New Mexico to George Riley Hyde and Martha Augusta Koch Hyde. Garth was the only child and grew up in Capitan, New Mexico. He never knew a stranger and cherished his childhood and college friendships. He began his college education at Pasadena College in California where he met the love of his life, Norma Lee Hubbard, and they were married April 11, 1958.
Together, they began a lifelong adventure in ministry in the Church of the Nazarene with Gardh as pastor, associate pastor and interim minister for 52 years. He was the senior pastor in twelve churches, and associate in three others, finally concluding with four years as a hospice chaplain.
Garth is survived by his wife Norma Hyde, their children Franklin Garth Hyde, Jr. (Sue), Martha ReeAnn Hyde, and Mary Esther Hyde (John Dennis), grandchildren Weston (Allie), Kelly (Robbie), Amanda (Dean), Memphis Anne Herrmann and great grandchildren Caiden, Analise, Joshua, RJ, Micah, Alanna and Avianna and is preceded in passing by daughter Rebecca Lynn Hyde
Services will be on Monday, October 5, 1:00 pm at the Springs Church of the Nazarene - Chapel, 4120 E Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80916 with light refreshments served immediately afterwards on site.
The family thanks all friends and loved one for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bonita Park Christian Camp and Conference Center in New Mexico.
