Frederick William Insley

June 21, 1933 – November 22, 2025
Obituary of Frederick William Insley
IN THE CARE OF

Swan-Law Funeral Directors

Lieutenant Colonel Frederick William Insley passed away at his home on November 22, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Mount Morris, New York on June 21, 1933, he was the son of Albert and Mary Elizabeth Insley. Fred married Paige Worrell on May 8, 1963, and they shared 57 years together until her passing in 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Donald (Rita) Insley and Oliver (Sally) Insley.

Fred dedicated his life to caring for others. After graduating from Mount Morris High School in 1951, he attended nursing school and later joined the U.S. Army in 1956, becoming a nurse anesthetist. He served for 20 years, including two deployments to Vietnam, then continued his work as a civilian Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson until his retirement in 2000.

Fitness and the outdoors were central to Fred’s life. He was an avid skier who spent winters in Summit County, Colorado and if he wasn’t on the slopes, he was likely at Dam Brewery with friends. He carved his final turns in February 2024 at age 90. He also loved bicycling, walking his Weimaraners, and fishing and camping in Colorado’s high country with Paige.

Above all, Fred loved people. Whether sharing meals with friends or chatting with neighbors, he always made time to listen, connect, and offer thoughtful advice. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and wonderful neighbors.

Fred requested no funeral services, but a celebration of life is planned for spring 2026. Contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
