time. He was born August 28, 1926 in Alton, IlIinois. He was one of six children born to
parents Claude and Daisy Gentry (Wright). George graduated from Alton High School,
where he met his future wife, Goldie McCormick.
In the Navy (1944-1946) George was a radio operator during WW2. He was on a ship
to Japan when they dropped the bomb.
After getting out of the Navy George married his high school sweetheart, Goldie on
August 24, 1947. They were married 70 years.
For many years he worked as a tool and die maker at Owens Illinois Glass Works.
Later moving to California with Goldie and their four kids. He worked at Glass
Containers till he retired in Hemet, California.
George and Goldie moved to Colorado May 8, 2013, where they lived nearly 5 years
with their daughter Judy and her husband Stan and their four grandkids Chloe, Sabrina,
Wyatt, and Gabriella. Also living there was Judy's son Michael and their family friend
Mary Jo. That makes four generations all living in one house.
Mr. Fix It should have been his name. He was our go to guy to fix things. George liked
short wave radios and remote control, planes and cars. Collecting trains and clocks was
his passion. He loved going to the swap meet, getting a clock for 25 cents, cleaning it,
and getting it working again. He was very good at word searches, piece puzzles, and
Wheel of Fortune.

Preceding George in death were his parents, Claude and Daisy Gentry, brother Dick
Gentry, sisters Pad Love, Ruth Borman, Dorothy Travis, son David Gentry, and
grandson Cory Tate. George is survived by his wife Goldie, Sister Shirley Easterling,
daughter in law Diana Gentry, daughters Judy Nolte, Patty Tate (Ken Tate) son Steven
Gentry. Grandchildren Michael Tickler, Nikki Creek (James Creek), Kelly Gentry, Katie
Tate, Christopher Tate, Jeremey Tate, and Ryan Tate. Great Grandchildren, Chloe
Tischler, Sabrina Tischler, Gabriella Tischler, and Wyatt Tickler.
George put many a smile on people's faces. We'll miss him and will always love and
cherish him . We'll see you in Heaven George.
