George A. Green, the second oldest son of John Green and Anna Ast, born October 28, 1917 in Aleppo, Kansas. Deceased March 11, 2012, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by five siblings, Joseph who died in infancy, Sister Evangeline, Ed who was killed in a plane crash in World War II, John Joseph, and Robert.
During World War II, he worked in Civil Service as a radio technician. After the war, he worked in construction as a cement mason.
George’s most notable qualities were his ability to analyze and fix anything…, his unique sense of humor, and his intense love of music. He taught himself to play both guitar and violin.
The early untimely death of Ed devastated the family, and at that time George was on hand playing his guitar and gently singing all the songs of his vast repertoire, a great consolation especially to his mother.
George leaves behind four sisters, Helen McCormick of Flagler, Colorado, Sister Regina Green SCL of Denver, Jeanne Green of Colorado Springs, Magdalene Green of Colorado Springs, many nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 22 West Kiowa with a viewing to begin at 9:30 a.m.
