

At age 18, George joined the Army and served from 1971-74. He served one year in Vietnam as an aircraft maintenance and helicopter repairman. Following the military, George worked at various jobs in Colorado Spring, and in 1991 he began G.H. Maintenance Services, where he served the community till his death. George enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, playing darts, and his Demolition Derby car.
George is preceded in death by his father George and mother Caroline (Kreiensieck) Hawkins, and sisters Rose Marie Roy and Betty Jean Shearer.
He is survived by his sister Jean(Hawkins) Butler of Fountain Valley, California, and nephews Robert Roy, Vernon Roy, Bill Shearer, Doug Shearer, and nieces Saundra (Shearer) Secco, Karen (Butler) Wallace, Marlene (Butler) Jacobs, and Annette (Butler) Fettis. His family tree extends to countless great nieces and nephews and beyond.
He will be interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery with honors.
