On Wednesday, August 4th 2021, Georgia Hope Matteson, wife and mother of seven, passed away at the age of 74. Georgia was born in 1946 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to George and Phyllis Peet. She attended Colorado College graduating in 1969 with a bachelors in Geology. She then moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where she started a family with her husband, Charles Matteson. Together, they raised seven children, three boys and four girls. She lived her life as a librarian, pilot, artist, and traveler who was fluent in Spanish, French, and Japanese. She loved to explore the world and immerse her children into many different cultures. She was always in search of new knowledge and never turned down an opportunity to learn. She gifted her passion for learning to many students, volunteering for and directing the Pikes Peak Regional Science Fair for nearly 30 years. She had a wonderful sense of humor that stayed with her until her last days, and although a very spirited person, she brought many people joy and adventure. She made friends with each new person she met, whether that be in her home town or halfway across the globe. Georgia is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Paul and Jim, Chad and Tiffany, Ian and Joy, Haley and Scott, Sydney, Callie, and Nellie, three grandchildren, Natalia, Christina, Lily, her sister Rata Clarke and her children Shelle Clarke and Chet Klingensmith. A service for Georgia Matteson will be held at Swan Law, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, on August 22nd 2021, at 2pm.
