Gloria Ludena Matthias, born January 30, 1940 in the Virgin Islands, passed away on December 6, 2025 in Colorado Springs, CO at 85 years old. Gloria’s strength didn’t need to be announced—it lived in the way she showed up and the way she loved.
She is survived by her son Robert and her daughter Michelle, who embody her resilience and steady way of loving. Her grandchildren—Gloria, Lyrik, and LJ Jr.—were her brightest light, the ones who made her smile in a way nothing else could.
For 18 years, Gloria worked at Ross, where she became a familiar, comforting presence. She wasn’t just an employee—she was someone people looked for, someone who made a long day feel lighter with a small kindness or a warm smile. Her coworkers trusted her. Her customers remembered her. She left an imprint in the everyday places most people rush through.
In her quiet moments, Gloria found comfort in the things that felt like home to her: a good book, a crossword puzzle, and the simple joy of gardening—her way of treating herself, resetting, and finding a little spark of happiness.
Gloria will be missed deeply and personally—by those who worked beside her, those who shared her laughter, and especially by those she loved most. Her presence was grounding. Her love was steady. Her absence leaves a space that can only be filled with memory, gratitude, and the stories she leaves behind.
Her burial will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 at Memorial Gardens.
In memory of her, smell the flowers and take the time to enjoy the little things.
