Gwendolene Scherb

She was born in Leicestershire, England on June 22, 1936, the youngest of six children born to John and Jane Smith. Gwen emigrated to the United States with her parents in 1952 at the age of 16. She then began working at the Five and Dime in Bergenfield, New Jersey where she met her husband, and soul mate, Joseph Scherb. They married in 1957 and raised their family in Bergenfield until moving to Colorado Springs in 1974.

Gwen was a homemaker who was dedicated to her family. She loved sewing, dancing, gardening, playing games, and spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Steven, Karen (Mark) and Darren (Sherri), daughter in law Mary, eight precious grandchildren, Jeremy, Kaitlyn (Michael), Erin (Derek), Jaclyn, Kristin (Alan), Christopher (AJ), Ryan (Ellie), Reanna, and great grandson Benson, along with two great grandchildren expected in early 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph, and her son Tony.

A service of remembrance will take place Friday, September 8, 2023, at 4:30pm at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care.
