My friend, few days go by where I don't think about and say your name out loud: can you hear me?  I certainly hope so - it gives me comfort thinking you are watching over me and your family.  Miss you buddy.

Howie - thinking of you today, miss our long rambling phone calls, where we explored cars, the latest movies and God know anything else that floated up from our adolescent brains.  Nobody else in my life could elect the infectious humor you instilled in our conversations - sometimes crass, but always funny; damn, I do miss those times.

Papa bear, 
I miss you and as promised between us to not be emotional and I realize how much and often we talked and pen paled. And always was your favorite shirley temple doll and I am very lost without you and our talks about everything and laughing.  Everytime i listen to the Beatles, fleetwood mac, phil Collins, tom petty or watch lord of the rings having our late night giggles!!! I have so many pictures of me smiling with you to post! I'm truly happy I can say both my parents before they passed told me I was best part of their life and dad you even 5 years ago in co told me your biggest only mistake you felt was loving me too much growing up :) impossible! My 2 best friends and favorite people in the world and at 35 I understand why God would want you. Grandma bubby I miss you and even you called me last time we talked and you told me you heard I thought dad didnt love me enough lol and you shut me up and told me its the opposite your father loves you more than you will ever know. Like you both always told me to knock off them tears and dont be so sensitive!!  Just be nice to have one loyal relative to write or feel like I am loved and a krassner whom wants nothing more than love and family. And so when I have children I can let them be apart of your lives and I am sorry daddy I didnt get to keep my promise when I get married again you can come walk me down the aisle or a grandparent. But you loved me more than any man ever has or will. Love you so much unconditionally and I know you wanted my happiness and truly you gave me that cause I dont know any other child that can say there parents only downfall was loving me too much and my heart feels hurt but rather have 30/35 years of best friends as my parents then even days years longer was any others. Say hi to pugsley, your brother, aunt mariam, rosebud, grandpa and penny Johnny brandy and the whole gang:) love you always papa bear!! Ya know what you would say... love you! Bye sweetie lol 

Dads are someone to look up to, someone to follow, someone to admire, someone to learn from, someone to respect, someone to listen to and someone to talk to, someone to try and impress and sometimes someone to rebel against.

I am so incredibly grateful and happy that I can stand here today and tell you that I have had all this with my dad.

To say I’m going to miss him would be a huge understatement.

It’s hard to imagine not having Dad on the end of a phone when needing advice or help, talking trash about who’s got the better team in football (Obviously we always thought ours was the best),  the latest video game he was playing or the latest hike he took.       

He was never afraid of having a laugh at his own expense or get others to laugh being the silly person he always was.

Dad was hard working and very friendly towards others and lived life how he wanted to.  He taught me many, many things but I think most importantly he gave me the ability to know that if you really put your mind to something, anything is possible, and never to be afraid to give anything a go.

It is of course always possible to look back and remember those times when things didn’t always go to plan, like the time he took me fishing as a child. For anyone that really knows me, they know that fish are not really my thing. 

So we went fishing and I ended up catching a fish that was way too heavy for me to reel in so he brought it up and helped me out.  I was then too scared and grossed out to gut the fish so he helped me out. I didn’t want to touch the fish for the trophy picture that night so he posed with it and helped me out. When he cooked it on the barbecue and served it to me even though I didn’t like fish and it later came back up he again had to help me out. He was always there for me.

Dad, you have gone too soon and while I miss you a ton, you will never be forgotten. I love you.

Hello my friends, I wanted to share a partial portion of my eulogy that I gave at Harold’s service - I miss him every day. 
“Harold, who I fondly called Howie over time, the two of us met some 25 years ago while working for an Aerospace company in Southern California. He was an IT manager at the time and I worked in Supply Chain.  Back then, personal computers were fairly new and I knew that anybody in IT would be a good friend to have.  And sure enough, Howie would make sure his buddy Lew was at the top of the upgrade list – I always had the biggest monitor and the fastest CPU.  This tech arms race soon spilled over into our personal lives over the years – and we always swapping stories about who have the biggest TV or the fastest graphics cards.  We loved it – our wives, on the other hand….well, not so much. 
In closing, I would like to share an example of Howie’s wicked sense of humor and a story I often recall when sharing memories of my friend.  Sometime back in the early nineties, we were looking for something to do at lunch break at work and decided to drop by the local Chevy dealership to look at the newest Camaro.  Well, one thing led to another and we soon found ourselves on a test ride with the salesmen – him in the passenger seat while Howie planted his butt in that ridiculously small seat in the back.  Upon turning on to the freeway onramp, I unloosened all 300 horses of that V8 engine and charged up that ramp at full boost; somewhere amongst all that wonderous exhaust sound, I could hear Howie in the back seat break in to Steppenwolf’s rendition of “Born to be wild…”  Sometime later, I bought that Camaro and every time I goosed that throttle, which was often, believe me, I could hear Howie egging me on in the back seat.

Harold was one of those rare experiences in my life where I had just met him not a year ago, yet it felt like I’d known him all my life. I had moved in next door to Harold and Kaye last November and he was the first (and still only) neighbor to greet and welcome us. Well, he encouraged a couple of neighbors to come and meet me…while they were right there anyway doing something and I was out front at the same time. And then, over time, he filled me in on everything that happened in the neighborhood over the last 13 years…or so, whether I needed to know these things or not! I probably know more about our neighborhood than some of the original residents! That was Harold. So easy to know and talk with. And talk…well, he could talk. I remember one fine summer day Kaye was in the back yard doing some work and Harold was at his usual post at our common fence talking to me as I was pretending to get work done in my yard…and I finally lobbed a question Kaye’s way, “How do you get anything done around your place with him talking all the time?” She simply said, without even looking up or skipping a beat, “Just ignore him.” He looked at me with his trademark quizzical smile and shrugged his shoulders and took up talking right where he left off! And we continued to trade “war stories” and probably lies across the back-yard fence on a regular basis and I never could get to where I would ignore him. It was so nice actually having a neighbor. Mostly we never get to know our neighbors these days.  But it was actually hard NOT to get to know Harold. All I know now is I will miss Harold more than I can express. I am so glad I got to know him for even the short while I had with him. He was a true and rare blessing in my life. 

Harold was such a wonderful husband to my sister! I’ve never seen her so happy;he always put a smile on her face! Two people so in love that they were like “One”!❤️💙  I was going through a very difficult time in my marriage and Harold insisted I come out to Colorado and stay with them for as long as I wanted! He paid for my ticket,spoiled me when I was there and always so caring and thoughtful! I know my life was blessed having known Harold and he truly will be missed by many!
