

A lifetime resident of Colorado Springs, she graduated from Colorado Springs High School in1939. She worked at Woolworth’s downtown as a clerk and as a waitress at Hawkins Café on Weber across from Daniels Chevrolet. After marriage she was primarily a homemaker.
Helen is survived by brother Alfred Burgess, Colorado Springs; 3 children, Dan (Sue) Rowton of Manning, SC, Joan (Paul) Saucerman of Colorado Springs, and Bob G (Judy) Rowton of Pueblo West; six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert L Rowton on December 24, 2012, siblings Walter (Bettie) Burgess, Agnes (Norman) Ohlson, and Holland (Shirley) Fallis.
Helen and Bob actively served in their church in many capacities. Helen taught Sunday School for many years affecting many lives. They attended Bethany Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. They served as houseparents in 1968 at Kodiak Baptist Mission in Alaska. That year was very precious to Helen and fondly remembered. She enjoyed her family and sharing her faith with everyone.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Broadmoor Court and Odyssey/Gentiva Hospice.
Services will be at Memorial Gardens on Saturday, April 20, with Visitation at 2 pm and Service at 3 pm.
