Helmut R. Aigner, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on March 9, 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born in Munich Germany January 3, 1943 to Karolina Aigner.
Helmut entered the German Navy in 1963 where he served 2 years.
Helmut came to the United States in 1965 and married his childhood sweetheart Christa Aigner on September 25, 1965. Helmut and Christa became United States Citizens together May 13, 1978.
Helmut worked at Ampex, TRW as an Engineer and at Schlage Lock as the Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager where he holds many patents. Helmut retired in 2003, but continued to be active in his son’s construction business for many years after.
Helmut loved being in the outdoors. He was an avid trapper, big game hunter and fisherman. He loved animals and being in the woods. His favorite spot to spend time with his family was a cabin he and his family built in the mountains. He loved working in the yard and enjoyed the wildlife that frequently visited the back yard pond.
Helmut leaves behind his beloved wife Christa Aigner, his sons Christopher (Shelley) Aigner and Michael (Stacey) Aigner, sister in laws Hilde DeCapite and Elfi (Fred) Hettmer, grand children, great grandchildren as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11:00 am at Mountain View Mortuary.
