Henry Goldman III

Henry was born January 12, 1934, in New York, New York to Henry Goldman Jr. and Adrienne (Straus) Gladstone. He was the youngest of three children.

While on vacation as a child in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Hank developed an early attraction to the American west. He graduated from Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts where he played football and ran track. His summers, however, were spent in Montana, where he worked the cattle and hay fields on a ranch, in Big Timber.

His interest in ranching led him to attend the University of Wyoming, where he graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry. It was during a Freshman Football practice that his athleticism caught the eye of the Wrestling Coach who asked him to join the team. He did, and this led to a successful collegiate career, where he won the Conference Championship and competed in the National Championships. His passion for wrestling continued as he supported USA Wrestling, travelling the world attending competitions, supporting athletes and promoting the sport.

Hank met his beloved wife Dolores in 1954 in Sun Valley, Idaho. Two years later, they were married in her hometown of Ogden, Utah. Not long after, Hank was able to fulfill his dream, when they purchased a large cattle ranch near Big Horn, Wyoming. He often said, “If I could have made a living ranching, I would still be there.”

Together, Hank and Dolores eventually settled in Colorado Springs where they raised three children; Leslie, Lynne and Duane. Hank went back to his roots, working for decades as a successful investment advisor. He stayed active in this endeavor his entire life. After Dolores’ passing, Hank found companionship with Carol Holcomb of Divide, Colorado. He expressed how his love for them sustained him through good times, and not so good times. He also commented on how fortunate he felt to have such a close and devoted family.

Apart from his family, Hank’s greatest passion was for animals of all types. They were always part of his life. This love was not just limited to his domestic friends. Many of his happiest days were spent on numerous trips to his favorite place in the world, Africa. Nowhere was he happier than sitting among a herd of elephants in Kenya, Botswana or any of the many locations he visited on that continent.

His interest in culture and history led him to be an extremely well-travelled man. Although he literally circled the globe, he found a special joy in the magnificent Alps of Europe.

Hank always said that he had a great life and wanted to thank his many friends and family for enriching and inspiring him along the way. He is eternally grateful for your love and friendship.

Hank is preceded in death by his sister June Goldman Breton Fisher, his brother Adrian Peter Goldman, his loving wife of 50 years, Dolores Anderson Goldman, his daughter Lynne Goldman Vagt and his son-in-law Tab Hicks. He is survived by his daughter Leslie Goldman Hicks, his son Duane (Patricia) Goldman, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 12:00pm at Flying W Ranch, 3330 Chuckwagon Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919
