

Hollis W. Walker, 88, passed away November 5, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. He was born August 7, 1923 in Petersburg, Texas to the late David C. and Ora D. (Brown) Walker. He was one of four children. He attended Lubbock High School in Lubbock, Texas
Hollis proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII from April 17, 1944 to January 19, 1946. He was employed by the Avalanche Journal in Lubbock, Texas from 1942 – 1944. After the military he was with Freedom Enterprises from 1946 -1956 and the Gazette Telegraph in Colorado Springs from 1956 – 1985 as a head pressman. Hollis completed his working career with Pinkerton’s Security after retiring from the Gazette.
Hollis married Janice Johnson on December 25, 1945. Years later he married Ardivene Madison on April 29, 1995 who passed away October 15, 2011.
He is survived by his children; Sherry (Lawrence) Pope of Hoquiam, WA; Debby (Bernard) Shaw of Colorado Springs, CO; David Weldon Walker (David Anderson) of Calhan, CO; Peggy Walker, Calhan, CO and Roger Madison of Colorado Springs, CO; one brother, C.D. Walker of Forney, TX and twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
Private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
