

Kathy was born in the Kobe region of Japan, to Tokuzo Okamae and Harumi Yamashita, on January 1, 1928. She met her future husband, Keith Allen, who was in the U. S. military, at a friend’s house. After a short courtship, they married on April 14, 1953, in Kobe. Kathy and Keith were stations in Europe, then came to the US, meeting his family in Iowa, where she got her nickname of Kathy from Keith’s mother. After being stationed in several different states, at Kathy’s request they settled in Colorado Springs.
Kathy worked in several different businesses in Colorado Spring, including Ampex, and the Broadmoor. She also worked in Asian restaurants, and eventually opened and operated her own restaurant called the Japanese Kitchen for ten years, then retired.
She was also involved in the Japanese community and was a member of a folk-dance group for many years. This group performed dances at community and skilled care centers.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband and their son, Jimmy. She is survived by her friends, her many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and her brother and his family in Japan.
