

James Douglas Cuddie II (Jim), was born January 6, 1948 in Auburn, WA. He was raised mostly in Auburn living in Redding, CA for 6 yrs. Jim graduated from Auburn High School in 1966. After graduation, he worked at Masey’s Grocery Store until he joined the U.S. Air Force December 12, 1967 and served as an airborne radio operator for search and rescue out of McCoy AFB in Orlando, FL, as well as two deployments to Vietnam. While at McCoy AFB he met Sandy Pruet and they were married August 21, 1970 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Orlando, FL. After Jim was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1972, he entered the University of Washington where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Mathematics, graduating June 14, 1975. Jim and Sandy raised their family all over the country moving wherever Jim’s career took them including, WA, FL, AZ, VA and CO. After working for National Cash Register (NCR), Sperry Univac and finally 27 years of employment with Lockheed Martin, Jim retired as a Systems Engineer & Program Manager March 28, 2009. When Jim wasn’t working his “bread and butter” job, he really enjoyed spending his time working on cars, taking care of the yard, weightlifting and supporting his kids in any sport they were in. His dedication and training to Olympic style weightlifting, Jim was ranked nationally in the late 70’s and early 80’s and later earned the title of Master’s World Champion in 1989. Jim loved hosting bar-b-q’s to bring his family and friends together, but most of all he loved to offer his advice to anyone who’d listen. He loved to share his life experiences, knowledge and wisdom.
Jim passed away in his home on Saturday, April 23, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, James Cuddie Sr., his mother, Caroline Stolldorf, his stepfather Al Stolldorf (with whom he became very close) and brother-in-law, Bob Hudspeth. Jim is survived by his three children, Yvonne Woodcock (daughter), Kathy Campbell and Kevin (daughter and son-in-law), James Douglas Cuddie III and Jessie (Son and daughter-in-law), six grandchildren, Austin Cuddie-Hudson, Shena Black, Kevin Campbell Jr, Trevor Woodcock, Jessie Woodcock, and Kyle Woodcock, great-granddaughter Nora Rae Black and former spouse, Sandy Pruet. He is also survived by his three sisters and brother-in-laws, Nancy and Chuck Parker, Joanna Hudspeth and Gloria and Greg Enera and their children and grand-children.
A memorial service for James will be held Monday, May 30, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918, followed by a reception from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
