Mr. James Curtis Gray was born March 23, 1938, in Logan County West Virginia to John and Susie Gray. It was here that he met the love of his life Johnnie Mae Gray (deceased). He joined the United States Army where he retired after 25 years. While in the military he received numerous accommodations including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After numerous tours within the US and abroad he and the family settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Later, completing his formal education with his master’s in electrical engineering he found his passion. While working with NCR he patented a procedure for chemically cleaning computer chips. James served as a team manager, managing various projects. He contributed to developing new organizational systems and boosted efficiency on the many project he supported.
“Jim”, as he was affectionately called by friends and family, was an avid golfer and bowler. His greatest golfing achievement was a hole-in-one, which was captured in the newspaper. His bowling achievements included bowling multiple 300 series games and winning tournaments. Jim was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and loved watching sports and westerns.
He leaves to mourn his passing his two sons, Bryan Keith Gray and wife Janine, James C. Gray, II and three daughters, Nora Darlene Gray (deceased), Angelika Mayo and Rebecca Ann Gray. Seven grandchildren Tia Gray, Melissa Matthews, Justin Gray, Jessica Patino, Darian Gray, Lauren Ashlee Gray, Darriel Clark. Nine great grandchildren Terrell Gray, Mariah Nolan, Rasi’ahna Nolan, Adriana Gray, Isabella Gray, Tyler Gray, Addison Gray, Harper Colins, Heilyn Griffin, Zackary Matthews, Makayla Matthews, Iziekiel Matthews, Karlee Elsholz, Robin Elsholz, Leila Elsholz, and Daxx Elsholz. Three brothers: Roosevelt Gray, Robert Gray (deceased), Tommie Gray. Niece and nephew Robin and Gary Melvin. Great-grand-nieces and nephew Nicholas and Felicia Washington and Melissa Rembert.
A visitation for Jim will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. A visitation will occur Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
